
| New Detective Course (TCOLE 3296) |
This course is designed to prepare newly assigned investigators for the responsibilities and challenges of conducting criminal investigations. Participants will develop fundamental investigative skills including crime scene management, evidence identification and collection, case preparation, and courtroom testimony. The course also covers interview and interrogation techniques, legal considerations, report writing, and case organization. Emphasis is placed on building effective investigative strategies, recognizing behavioral indicators, and applying critical thinking to solve cases. Through practical exercises and scenario-based training, students will gain the knowledge and confidence necessary to conduct thorough, ethical, and professional investigations in accordance with Texas law and TCOLE standards. |
